SWITZERLAND - Singapore, 1863, April. Letter sent from St.Gallen to Singapore, Straits Settlements via Vienna,Trieste, Alexandria & Suez. Single letter rate of 90 Rappen was paid by par of 40 Rp “Strubel”,third Bern print, in combination with Siting Helvetia 10Rp ,1862 issue, all tied by St.Gallen c.d.s. Letter sent via Trieste - tax break 9/11 and 14 silbergroschen was converted to 47 Kreuzer (rhein-currency) transit fee. At the back shows Austrian Lloyd charge mark 15/52 (15Kr. Trieste to Alexandria and 52Kr Alexandria - Suez - Singapore). On arrival the Kreuzer rate was converted to 1 Schilling (red manuscript) for collection. An exceptional cover sent under Austrian Transit Treaty to a rare destination. Despite some natural ageing faults an exceptional exhibition item. Eichele certificate. SBK. 26G, 31. (Photo).
