Frederick, Prince of Wales. 1734 (22 October) folio A.L.S. from Kensington, written in French, “Mon Intime, je commence par Vous rendre mille graces des pieces de Musique que Vous m’avez envoiez j’en ai joué quelques unes, et j’ai regretté à chaque pause le charmant Comte de Blamont. J’espere que Vous êtes bien persuadé qu’il ne me falloit pas cela pour Vous regretter, on n’a besoin que de après cela. Vous me demandez comment Farinelly me plaît, je Vous assure extremement, et même tant que je ne trouve rien comparable à lui, et ma Soeur il plaît la la …”. Signed “Frederick P”. With recipient’s note “Mr. le Pce. de Galle / Le 20 8bre 1734” on the reverse. The paper is splitting along one of the central folds. Frederick Louis, Prince of Wales (1707 – 1751) was heir apparent to the British throne from 1727 until his death. He was the eldest but estranged son of King George II and Caroline of Ansbach, as well as the father of King George III. He died at the age of 44, apparently from injuries sustained while playing cricket. (Estimate 800 - 1000)
