Foreign Mails. 1839 (Dec 22) Large part entire (side flaps removed) from Bordeaux to New South Wales sent as a ship letter via London, paid 48 decimes, backstamped in London (Dec 26) with red “PAID SHIP LETTER / LONDON” datestamp and curved boxed “FOREIGN PAID” handstamps, marked as 2/6 paid. Backstamped upon arrival in Sydney, charged 3d. Also 1840 (Jan 9) entire letter from Dublin to Brussels posted on the last day of the 4d Post Period, prepaid 2/4 and charged 10 decimes.
