Russia 1935 Moscow-San Francisco, 1r surcharge, lower-case “f” (“small f”) in “San Francisco” surcharge inverted, well centered, with full original gum, small hinge remnant, various pencil signatures, also signed Calves, Mikulski and others, with 2012 Paul Buchsbayew certificate. Only two sheets (50 stamps) of the inverted surcharge were discovered. “Small f” occurs five times per sheet, which means that only 10(!) examples of this double error can exist. Including this copy, we have recorded a total of six inverted small “f” varieties, of which two are contained in a unique combination block of four. This is a major Soviet and world-class rarity, ex-Mikulski collection. Last offered in our May 2008 sale (lot 1776) this copy realized $603,750, premium included. Another example was sold in our June 2008 Ackerman Sale for $718,750 including buyer’s commission. A rare opportunity to obtain this gem of Russian philately (Standart 420Ka Tb, catalogue value Euro 600,000) (Catalog value $600,000) Dealer
