United States 1979 $1 brown, candle inverted, n.h., v.f. Popularly known as the “CIA Invert”, a single pane of 100 stamps was purchased at the McLean Va. Post Office by employees of the Central Intelligence Agency, for use on outgoing agency mail. As soon as they noticed the error, the enterprising agents bought a replacement sheet from the post office and kept the pane for themselves.
