Thai Occupation of Kedah, 1944 (Jan 20) Large registered piece with full Baling Syburi English only triple ring cds on item that was re-used twice, Original item with partial Alor Star Kedah English only double ring cds (Proud D15) with 2602 year, 1942. This was reused with second usage franked with Japanese Occupation of Malaya 4c X2 paying 8c letter rate tied with Alor Star Kedah English only cds dated 1944 Jan 15 (Proud D15). Of importance, is this date was the issuing of the Thai Occupation of Malaya stamps. This was then used as a registration item, 5 days later, for the third time franked with Japanese Occupation of Malaya 3c, 10c X2 (Scott N36, JSCA 9M3, 9M6) tied with Baling Syburi English only triple ring cds (Proud Th. D4) in bluish ink with hand written date of 20/1 or Jan 20. This predates Proud recorded earliest date of use as March 1 for this cds. Proud also noted that it was “probably introduced on 1.1.87 (which is Jan 1, 1944)”. Also with Baling registration label. Also visible is the Alor Star Registration & Parcel cds (Proud Th. R14) where Proud recorded the latest usage date as Jan 21, but his illustration of this marking was a day earlier, 20/1, same date as this cover. This cds tied the top left corner of the 3c stamp. Overall this piece has numerous important features starting with the earliest date of the Baling marking. There is no other postal history item from Baling in this collection and no other record of the Baling registration label. An absolute showpiece of highest importance in postal history for this town.
