China, 1945 Kaifeng surcharge $50 on 30c. strip of four, pairs (2) and single with various other Dr. Sun Yat-sen values $1 (3) and $2 (13) on 1945 (28 Dec.) registered envelope to U.S.A. (2.2.46) via Shanghai (16.1.46), cancelled by “Honan” c.d.s., the envelope substantially damaged before leaving China, with two Officially Sealed Post Office labels attached and tied by “Shanghai” dotted rim transit d.s., nevertheless a spectacular and excessively rare usage of the Kaifeng Provisionals on a foreign mail cover, especially from outside Kaifeng, as well as such a late date since the Provisionals were supposedly invalidated on 15 December.
