Egypt 1926 (Mar 1) Survey Flight from Cairo to Cape Town, cover with oval “HELIOPOLIS DETAILS / 1 MAR 1926 / ROYAL AIR FORCE” cachet addressed to “Major T. M. Barlow, c/o R.A.F Depot (Fairey IIID Flight), Cape Town, South Africa” and endorsed “Per Trans African Air Mail”, redirected to “Fairey Aviation Works, Hayes, Middlesex, England”. Bearing a South Africa 2d tied by Muizenberg c.d.s (Apr. 19), signed and endorsed “To be carried by Fairey IIID, 31104 C. Pulford, Wing Cdr o/c Cape Flight 25/2/26”. A scarce cover, carried on the survey flight from Heliopolis to Cape Town and posted back to England from Muizenberg, a little worn and faded, otherwise fine. Also a typed letter (Apr 14th) from the Air Ministry Press Section with copies of two telegrams sent by Sir Samuel Hoare to Wing Cdr. Pulford or the South African Minister of Defence sending congratulations on the success of the flight, and a copy of the reply to Sir Samuel Hoare. Ex Jeidel. (4). Photo on Page 29. £700-1,000
