19th Schlegel Auktionshaus Auction September 30 - October 01, 2016.

Dear philatelists, collectors and dealers, Our 19th auction from September 30 to October 1, 2016 once again offers a wealth of fine postal history specialties, covers, good single stamps and sets, as well as the usual wide variety of collections and estates.

Following the success of the Dr. Niesel-Collection of our last auction we bring you the next attraction: The RAINER-IHLENBURG-COLLECTION (Lots 7001-7957) – with postal stationeries and covers since the foundation of the German Reich – is presented in a special catalogue. Two other special parts are the prelude to our main catalogue: EUROPEAN TRANSITS (Lots 1-190) documents the transnational mail of different countries, focusing on pre-philately.

Furthermore, the special part INTERNATIONAL SHIP MAIL (Lots 201-445) details the different aspects of the German and Baltic ship mail for connoisseurs of marine postal history. As our last auctions showed, philatelic rarities are in great demand. With an eye for both rarity and beauty, we are pleased to present many interesting and potentially unique items in this auction: Our selection includes an OLYMPIABLOCK from 1936 (Lot 4269) in mint condition with an inverted watermark – a unique item to enrich any German Reich or sport collection. Another rare item is Lot 4007, an air mail stamp 40 Pfg. BLASSGRÜN (Deutsches Reich Mi-No. 112 b) as mixed franking on an air mail cover from Berlin to Leipzig. The German colonies section is highlighted by two lots: Foreign Post Offices Turkey, Mi-No. VI/I** (Lot 4614) and Kiautschou, Mi-No. 26B ** represent two wonderful collector’s pieces. Lot 3744 presents the famous “Sachsen-Dreier” on a cover, cancelled by a well-struck and rare rhombus grid. An 1849 cover displaying the Swiss Basel dove stamp (Lot 3381) is undoubtedly a fine example of this classic postal history rarity.
