1884, ANGOLA - THE ONLY RECORDED ILLUSTRATED ‘CROWN’ ISSUE COVER OF A PORTUGUESE COLONIE; Extremely fine 15 Jan. 1884 envelope to Lisbon franked by two 'Crown’ 50r Blues (Perf. 13 ½, Plate I) tied by very fine blue 2-ring “CORREIO DE LUANDA 1884” c.d.s.’s; one of the stamps is placed at an angle at top left as a box balanced on the tip of the nose of a neatly drawn sketch of a clown; the drawing initialled “C.K.L.” at lower left. Ordinary Crown Issue Angola covers are already rare, and this is believed to be the only recorded example on a pictorial cover. An Important Exhibition item. BPA (2012) certificate
