New Brunswick. 1860 Connell 5c. brown, large part original gum, with odd trimmed or short perfs as are almost always found on this rarity. Connell, a provincial postmaster, arranged for the issue to be printed bearing his own portrait rather than Queen Victoria, leading to the entire printing being recalled and destroyed. This example ranks amongst the finer of the 50-60 recorded survivors. A handsome and intriguing stamp, signed Bloch. S.G. 13, £10,000. Photo (Estimate 3000 - 4000)
