Canada 1895 (December 13) Baldwin Poehlmann, Waterloo, Ont. cover from Waterloo to Mahe, Seychelles, Indian Ocean, cover with a few edge flaws and bearing an unusual three-colour franking consisting of a 3c vermilion, 5c grey and 8c bluish grey Ottawa Printings perf 12, somewhat stained and first two with trivial perf flaws, all are clearly tied by oval “R” registry handstamps. Waterloo squared circle dispatch at left, two additional strikes on reverse along with RPO DE 14 and Toronto DE 14 backstamps; oval London 25 DE 95 purple transit datestamp on front; arriving in Seychelles where it was annotated “Refused” and sent back to sender with clear Seychelles JA 31 96 dispatch CDS ideally struck on front, London 29 FE 96 registered datestamps, one of which ties the 3c, Hamilton MR 14 and partially clear RPO on reverse. Pays double UPU letter rate of 10c + 5c registration - overpaid 1c. A rare item with extraordinary appeal, being an exceedingly rare destination; quite possibly the only known registered Small Queen cover to the Seychelles, F-VF
