ITALIAN STATES - PARMA - THE PAOLO VOLLMEIER POSTAL HISTORY COLLECTION 1452-1843, Award-winning exhibition collection neatly and knowledgeably mounted on 124 pages from the very early years to the middle of the 19th century. Highlights include several very early 15th century items with examples of the very first manuscript postal markings, section of 16th century covers replete with famous signatures including Cardinal Farnese, Archduchess Margaret of Austria, Baron Concino, Lelio Torelli, Tiberio Cerado, and more. Wide range of postal forms including a number of internal communications plus the more usual receipts, and various notices. Extensive selection of postal markings including the fancy 1786 cursive PARMA in red on several items, then re-introduction of the usage of postal markings from 1804 onwards after interruption due to the French revolution, with small-type boxed PARMA in red, ESENZIONE franchise handstamps, PORTO PAGATO, French department TARO section including numerous P.P. handstamps.
