SUEZ 1835 Two page letter written and signed by Ferdinand de LESSEPS, developer of the Suez Canal. Written in quarantine at the Lazaret in Toulon 4 Octobre 1835, while French Consul in Cairo, to Mr Charles Duguet, member of the “Saint-Simoniens” who arrived in Egypt in 1833 to explore the development of a Canal through Suez, the text is of particular interest, mentioning the Desire of France to lead Egypt to the Civilization through a industrial project, comments on Mehmet Ali, etc. Most interesting historical document, rare.
