United States 1916 1c green, Die I, gray, rough surfaced paper postal card (USPCC S38), unused without printed address, pristine fresh and v.f., with 1992 PFC. In 1916, during a war-time paper shortage, this substandard grade of card stock was used only temporarily, for a period of about two months. They were not sold individually, but were supplied to printers, which accounts for their great rarity without printed addresses (the printed address cards catalogue only $625) (USPCC cat. $4,000), (Catalog value $ 3,250)
